In a remarkable occurrence, there is a three-way tie for this year's Audience Choice Award! We have counted and re-counted, checked and double checked, and the phenomenal result is that three films received the exact same score down to a tenth of a point! So it is our pleasure to announce that Between the Folds (Vanessa Gould), Most Dangerous Man in America: Daniel Ellsberg and the Pentagon Papers (Judith Ehrlich, Rick Goldsmith), and 65_RedRoses (Philip Lyall, Nimisha Mukerji), will all share this award.
This is testimony not only to the fact that something quite improbable can and does occasionally happen, but also to the diversity of interests of the Mendocino audiences which packed the houses. It is also notable that two of the films were done by young emerging filmmakers (one, the exquisite Between the Folds, which won a Peabody Award last month, and the other, the moving cinema verite 65_RedRoses, accomplished by a pair of directors fresh out of film school). The third film to enjoy the Audience Choice Award is the riveting, Oscar®-nominated Most Dangerous Man in America, created by seasoned multi-award winning filmmakers.
Our heartiest congratulations to all three wonderful films and their talented filmmakers!
